Shutterfly, the leading e-commerce company for personalized products and custom design, announced its current CEO, Sally Pofcher, will transition from the role of Chief Executive Officer as part of a planned succession. Emily Whittaker of VistaPrint will assume the role later this month.
Sally has led a major transformation to strengthen the Shutterfly Inc. portfolio of brands, including Snapfish, Spoonflower, Lifetouch, and Shutterfly Business Solutions. Under Sally’s leadership, the company achieved record performance by enhancing brand health, advancing technology, and building a high-performance, customer-focused culture. With the upcoming implementation of a new technology platform and a product roadmap that further accelerates AI capabilities in the user experience, Shutterfly’s growth strategy will continue to improve the customer journey and build on its market leadership position.
Emily Whittaker joins Shutterfly from VistaPrint, a Cimpress company, where she was most recently Executive Vice President of North America & Head of Global Marketing. In her 16 years with Vistaprint & Cimpress, Emily has overseen commercial operations for the largest regions of the company, and has been responsible for setting and scaling brand, performance and product marketing strategies. In her various cross-functional roles, including product delivery, technology and customer experience, Emily has consistently demonstrated a customer-first mindset with an ability to lead brand growth, while deeply understanding how technology and print operations deliver value.

“I’m thrilled to join Shutterfly at such a pivotal moment,” said Emily. “I look forward to continuing the momentum – driven by innovative technology, acceleration of AI capabilities, all with a relentless focus on delivering the best experience for the customer – we’re clearly positioned for an exciting future.”
“Over the past several years, Sally has led the critical work to strengthen Shutterfly’s market position and ensure the company is positioned for continued success in the next chapter,” said David Sambur, Chair of Shutterfly’s Board and Co-Head of Equity at Apollo. “This transition has been thoughtfully planned to ensure continuity and ongoing momentum, and the Board has full confidence in Emily’s ability to build on this strong foundation, leading Shutterfly into its next chapter of growth while keeping the customer at the center of strategy and innovation.”
Sally Pofcher will remain with Shutterfly Inc. in an advisory role for a period of time to ensure a smooth transition.
“Strengthening these beloved brands through product elevation, the art and science of marketing, and significant innovation in the user experience has been incredibly rewarding,” said Sally. “I’m deeply proud of what we’ve accomplished together and excited to cheer on Emily and the team as they bring Shutterfly’s bold strategy to life.”
