Barclays yesterday announced the appointment of Spyros Svoronos as Global Co-Head of Industrials within the Investment Banking business. In the role, he will co-lead the business with John Lange and report to Taylor Wright and Cathal Deasy, Co-Heads of Investment Banking. Mr. Svoronos will join the Investment Banking Management Team and be based in New York.
“Spyros is the latest strategic hire for our Investment Banking business as we grow and expand our talent base to deliver stronger outcomes for clients,” said Cathal Deasy, Co-Head of Investment Banking at Barclays. “As a leading industrial banker with particular expertise in the chemicals space, he brings to Barclays deep expertise, extensive strategic relationships, and a proven track record of success with large corporate and financial sponsor clients.”
Mr. Svoronos joins Barclays from Credit Suisse, where he most recently served as the Global Head of Industrials Group in Investment Banking and Capital Markets. During his tenure of close to 25 years, he drove significant transactions within M&A across Industrials, including Praxair’s merger with Linde AG, Bayer’s acquisition of Monsanto, the RMT of DuPont’s N&B business with IFF, and Atotech’s sale to MKS. Prior to Credit Suisse, Mr. Svoronos worked in Industrials at Lazard Freres. He holds degrees from the London School of Economics and Columbia Business School.
“Spyros’ appointment is further evidence of our commitment to investing in industry-leading talent while bolstering the excellence of our IB leadership team,” says Taylor Wright, Co-Head of Investment Banking at Barclays. “The business has been strengthened under John Lange’s leadership and with hiring Spyros, we look forward to building on this success and continuing to deliver value-added, strategic advice to our clients across our Global Industrials franchise.”
