Mary Kay, the iconic beauty and entrepreneurial company driving future growth, announced the appointment of Dr. Lucy Gildea as Chief Brand and Scientific Officer.

According to Industry sources, Gildea will work with a cross-functional team to pioneer new operating models, strengthen Mary Kay’s global brand and science, and drive growth and customer loyalty in more than 40 markets. In her expanded role, Gildea will focus on building a strong, consistent brand identity, voice, and strategy across all platforms and geographies, with an impactful product portfolio that meets ever-evolving consumer needs. She and her team will bring the brand to life through engagement strategies that leverage the power of next-generation entrepreneurs and compelling brand storytelling.

Industry sources further added that since joining Mary Kay in 2017, Gildea has focused on modernizing the company and making it more competitive through product innovation and improved organizational efficiency. Gildea has spent 15 years at Procter & Gamble, primarily focused on beauty technology and beauty and skin care product development, and held various management positions including leading upstream technology and metrology development teams in the healthcare, beauty, and personal care industries. During her time at P&G, she lived in Singapore, gaining experience in international markets.

“Leveraging her expertise in science and beauty innovation and customer-centric approach, Lucy will lead multiple initiatives in transforming our company for the future,” said Ryan Rogers, CEO of Mary Kay Inc. and grandson of Mary Kay Ash. “This new global brand and science organization will enable our Beauty Consultants to independently share life-changing brand experiences with customers and grow as personal beauty advisors, contributing to our mutual business success and strengthening the unique value proposition of direct selling”.

Gildea received her PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology, Immunology and Infectious Diseases from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and completed her postdoctoral research in Immunology through a Joint Appointment at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital/University of Cincinnati Department of Immunology. She also holds a BS in Biology from Georgetown University in Georgetown, Kentucky.
