GigNet appoints Luis de Potestad to Vice President –public affairs and special projects

GigNet, a Digital Transformation company that provides high-speed broadband and advanced value-added services to enterprise clients and residential communities based on its extensive fiber-optic network from Cancun to Tulum, announced recently that Mr. Luis de Potestad has been promoted to Vice President – Public Affairs and Special Projects, and in that capacity will serve as the official Spokesperson for GigNet Mexico. Working closely with GigNet enterprise clients and real estate developers in the Mexican Caribbean region, he will further contribute to government relations, business development, and media communications to assist in the development of the Company’s digital transformation strategy for the Yucatán Peninsula and the Mexican Caribbean.

Mr. De Potestad has been with GigNet for the past six months, assisting with media outreach and business development. Previously he worked for the Quintana Roo State government in Mexico from 2016 to 2022. During his first three years he was the Under Secretary of Tourism for the State, then served as an Advisor to the Governor of Quintana Roo for two very important Federal infrastructure projects in the Mexican Caribbean region: Tren Maya and the Nichupté Lagoon bridge. In 2022, he was appointed Liaison for International Media for the State government before joining GigNet as Director of Media and Special Projects in December 2022. He first worked in Quintana Roo as the Executive Director for Caribe Mexicano Life, then as VP of Latin America for eGroup Communications before serving in the Quintana Roo State government.

Mr. De Potestad graduated from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and has been living in the Mexican Caribbean for the past 22 years. He has worked as an active member of several important Local, National, and International organizations such as the Quintana Roo State Security Council (MCSJ) where he is currently in charge of internal and external communication for all the Local Security Councils of the State, the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), SKAL (an international organization for tourism professionals), Technological University of Cancun (UT), and the Fire Department Patronage, among others.
