Penguin Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq: PENG), the AI Factory Platform Company that designs, builds, and manages next generation AI data center infrastructure worldwide, recently announced that it has been selected by Lektra to deploy and optimize their AI micro data centers. Penguin Solutions will provide validated reference designs, AI-optimized compute, and expert-led services and support needed to deliver and scale Lektra distributed EdgeScale™ AI data centers.
Lektra is a pioneering cloud company behind one of the world’s first patented AI data centers powered by distributed energy and able to operate at capacities of 20 MW or less. With eight sites already deployed and many more planned, powered by carbon-free energy, Lektra’s EdgeScale architecture enables AI infrastructure to be deployed in strategically located sites. This reduces deployment timelines from years to months while maintaining flexibility to expand at the point of demand. By matching AI capacity demands with available energy resources, Lektra has created an alternative to power-constrained and government-restricted large-scale data centers.
Through its Full-Stack AI Factory Platform, Penguin Solutions provides NVIDIA-based hardware as well as the engineering expertise to design and integrate accelerated servers into Lektra’s architecture. As an NVIDIA AI Factory Specialized Partner, Penguin Solutions also deploys infrastructure to remote sites and provides ongoing services to simplify implementation and ensure reliable operation of Lektra-based data centers. This foundation supports Lektra solution as it enables cloud service providers, neoclouds, energy providers, commercial solar operators, and other site hosts to add GPU capacity incrementally and efficiently as demand grows.

“As demand for AI factory data centers continues to accelerate, the industry needs new approaches for deploying and powering AI infrastructures,” said Kash Shaikh, President and CEO at Penguin Solutions. “Lektra is delivering a next generation approach for deploying distributed energy sourced AI micro data centers efficiently without sacrificing security or control. We are excited to partner with Lektra leveraging our Full-Stack AI Factory Platform expertise to enable their growing network of distributed EdgeScale data centers.”
Together, Lektra’s unique architecture and Penguin Solutions AI Factory Platform capabilities enable new AI capacity to be deployed where energy resources are available, minimizing deployment risk while accelerating expansion.
“Lektra is reshaping how AI infrastructure can be made more accessible and beneficial to the communities it serves. We envision a world that expands the current capacity of centralized grid systems to distributed energy production, or what we call Grid 2.0,” said Karl Andersen, Chief Executive Officer of Lektra. “By partnering with Penguin Solutions and leveraging its Full-Stack AI Factory Platform, we can deliver customer-defined GPU capacity in customer-defined geographical locations that leverage readily available energy while meeting data, model, and infrastructure sovereignty requirements.”
This collaboration reflects a shared focus to enable the next phase of AI growth by combining distributed AI infrastructure, enterprise AI compute capacity, and carbon-free energy into a scalable system.
