Up until a few years ago, when someone brought up cosmetic treatments, a lot of people were quite judgmental about it because most of them associated it with some drastic changes that would completely change a person’s appearance.

That’s probably because people who first crossed their minds were celebrities who have truly made some dramatic transformations and practically become unrecognizable. But what’s worth noting is that the situation has radically changed as far as this is concerned.

More and more people today turn to these treatments to enhance their appearance, but to still remain natural, which is, of course, most definitely doable! The entire point of modern aesthetic procedures is to become the best version of yourself, not to become somebody else.

The Perception Of Beauty

Beauty standards have always been very volatile, and usually one trend would last for a couple of years, only to be replaced by the total opposite, which is fine because it means that these standards will, at some point, “embrace” every beauty type.

Speaking of this, nowadays, it seems as if authenticity is possibly something that everybody is striving to be, in terms of looks. That’s because no one (or at least most of them) wants to fall victim to any trend.

It seems as if lots of people aren’t ashamed of their “imperfections”, such as a big nose, thin lips, and many other features, because they know that it’s what makes them unique. Even if they want to, for instance, change the size of their lips, they will opt for a lip filler in Brisbane, or any other city, and will enhance them a bit. But they won’t allow themselves to exaggerate like they used to.

Now, this definitely doesn’t mean that people are against these treatments, but they simply want to make some smaller tweaks and not do anything too radical. Consequently, many modern consumers no longer have requests, like “I want to look like this, or that”, but more of “I want to refresh my appearance”, which is the point!

Natural Look Takes Over

As stated previously, more and more people have come to the realization of how essential it is to retain that natural look even when you decide to opt for some aesthetic procedures, and that’s precisely why these subtle improvements have become very popular among both genders.

They want people from their close circle to say something like “Oh, you look so wonderful”, instead of asking “What have you done to your face, and/or body?” That’s one of the reasons why so many clinics that conduct these procedures have decided to offer treatments that provide that slow, yet natural-looking enhancement.

It doesn’t matter whether you’ll decide to smooth your wrinkles, restore lost volume, or simply make your skin look healthier; what matters is selecting products that are going to help you have that refined, sophisticated look, rather than make any drastic changes to your face/body. After all, the main goal of these treatments is to preserve your facial expression, yet to boost your features a bit.

Has Social Media Made Any Impact?

The answer is, most certainly yes! And this comes as no surprise, since we are all aware of how impactful it is, not only when it comes to aesthetic treatments, but also in many other aspects, too! In recent years, people have noticed how more and more influencers are editing their images, all the time, making themselves look like someone else.

In the beginning, this was ignored (to a certain extent); however, when things got out of hand, people decided to do something about it and raise their voices, to show that they value authenticity much more than filtered faces.

Filters and other editing tools are no longer a secret. On the contrary, a vast majority of people are fully aware of them, but that surely doesn’t mean that they approve of them. They know that all those pictures that are overly filtered set some unrealistic expectations and make people extremely insecure, especially those who are very young.

A lot of people are turning to aesthetic treatments because they want to feel better about themselves, be more self-confident, without losing their authenticity and what really makes them beautiful.

This current shift that has taken over the world isn’t just a trend that’s going to soon go away and be replaced by something else. It’s here to stay because it shows a much healthier approach towards beauty and its standards.
