Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), India’s largest private airport operator, and Thales, a global leader in advanced technologies, recently announced a strategic partnership to revolutionize AAHL’s international airport operations and passenger experience across the country.

According to Industry sources, under the terms of this partnership, Thales has already implemented the Fly to Gate solution at seven of AAHL’s managed airports in India, simplifying and boosting the journey for millions of travelers since early 2024. Expanding this collaboration, AAHL has awarded Thales an additional contract to deploy the innovative Airport Operations Control Center (APOC) across all its airports to boost overall airport management and enhance the passenger experience in a safe manner.

Industry sources further added that seven airports operated by AAHL are currently equipped with DigiYatra, powered by Thales’ Fly to Gate solution, which is based on the responsible use of advanced facial recognition technology as a secure proof of passenger identification. Pre-registered passengers can expedite their journey in an easy and reliable manner, eliminating the need to present identification documents and boarding passes at each checkpoint (from check-in to boarding). Reducing passenger processing time by up to 30% at these airports, this integration of responsible biometric solutions ( cf. Thales TrUE Biometrics ) aligns with the Indian government’s vision of a digital India.

Industry sources further confirmed that additionally, Thales has been contracted to work on the design, integration, and implementation of an end-to-end APOC solution for all airports managed by AAHL. This cloud-based “Intelligent Digital Platform” will centrally host all applications needed to improve overall airport management, security, and passenger experience. The innovative APOC platform collects operational data from integrated airport subsystems and sensors, while respecting privacy standards. This data is intelligently processed using automation, big data analytics, and robust artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms. The soon-to-be-deployed solution will anticipate and reduce unplanned resource shortages, increasing predictability and overall efficiency.

“We are excited to partner with Thales in this strategic partnership to help us in our ongoing digital transformation journey at our airports. With this collaboration, we are proud to make DigiYatra available to millions of passengers traveling through our airports and have advanced Airport Operations Control Centres for smart airport management. With Thales’ deep expertise in cybersecurity, responsible biometrics, identity management, operational efficiency and systems integration, we aim to create a safe and seamless airport environment for passengers. Together, we are contributing to India’s vision of a digitally enabled future,” stated Arun Bansal, CEO, of Adani Airport Holdings Limited.

“We are excited to strengthen our partnership with Adani Airport Holdings Limited to deliver innovative technology solutions to revolutionize airport operations and passenger experience in India. Our Fly to Gate biometric solution for DigiYatra and smart Airport Operations Control Centre (APOC) will enable AAHL to streamline operations and also ensure a safe and seamless journey for millions of passengers. Together, we are committed to supporting India in its vision of becoming the world’s largest aviation market by 2047,” stated Ashish Saraf, Vice President and Country Director, India, Thales.
