RQM+, one of the leading MedTech service providers, yesterday announced the appointment of Steven Pilewski as Chief Operating Officer of its Laboratory Services business unit, which provides chemical characterization and reverse chemical engineering (or “deformulation”) of complex products, as well as contaminant and failure investigations for MedTech manufacturers. The business unit was founded more than 4 decades ago under the name of Jordi Labs and was acquired by RQM+ in September 2022.
With more than 30 years of experience in pharmaceutical and medical technology, Pilewski most recently served as Vice President of the Good Manufacturing Practices Laboratory for PPD Laboratories, a division of Thermo Fisher Scientific. When he began his career at PPD 24 years ago, this lab was a small business with just 50 employees. During his tenure as a member of the management team, Pilewski continued to drive the business unit’s global organic growth strategy, transforming it into a leading global analytical services company with more than 3,000 people.
“Steve is the ideal person to lead our laboratory services business,” said Margaret Keegan, CEO. “His experience will help us meet our growth goals, namely expanding capacity to better serve our customers, extending our geographic reach, and innovating to develop new ways to support diagnostic and medical device manufacturers. His extensive experience in extractables and leachables and device testing, which serves as a key differentiator for us, will also help further our reputation as a leader in polymers, quantification and elimination of unknowns.”
In addition to his experience in management positions in both public and private equity companies, Pilewski has a master’s degree in pharmaceutical and medical device law and intellectual property from Seton Hall University. He also has a degree in chemistry from the University of New Jersey. Mark Jordi, former president of Jordi Labs, will take on the role of advisor and will continue to support RQM+.
