The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has chosen Nippon Express as a designated cargo agent for a project promoting the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in air cargo transport. The project aims to reduce CO2 emissions across companies’ entire supply chains.
The government will provide subsidies to cover the additional cost of using SAF for air cargo transport through designated cargo agents until March 2025. Nippon Express was selected for its efforts to encourage wider use of SAF, including its “NX-GREEN SAF Program” and participation in the “SAF Flight Initiative” offered by ANA.
The company has set targets to reduce in-house emissions by 50% from 2013 levels by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. The project is part of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s initiative to support companies in reducing their environmental impact.
