The agreement covers renewable energy and low-carbon technologies.

Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA) and Hong Kong’s Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) will continue to strengthen energy security and resilience, including artificial intelligence (AI) and digital power grids.

The agencies signed a renewed memorandum of understanding to expand cooperation and the sharing of regulatory practices in electricity and gas systems and markets, renewable energy, energy efficiency and conservation, district cooling, AI, and energy integration.

It will also cover low-carbon technologies such as hydrogen and carbon capture, utilisation and storage.

Both agencies will collaborate through multilateral platforms, including the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW), and EMSD Symposium.

The agreement will facilitate knowledge sharing, technical cooperation, training and exchange programmes.

It builds on a partnership between the EMA and EMSD established in 2020.

“Our exchanges have provided valuable opportunities to learn from each other’s experience in areas such as electricity and gas systems, innovation and low-carbon technologies,” said EMA Chief Executive Puah Kok Keong.

“We look forward to deepening our exchanges in emerging areas such as AI and digital grids and strengthening our cooperation through platforms such as SIEW,” Puah added.
